DESIGN FOR SIX SIGMA (DFSS)

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a tool set that allows us to achieve optimal product and process designs from the very beginning of our new product / process development. Its focus is on the spoken and unspoken Voice of the Customer and Quality Function Deployment (VOC / QFD) and how we translate that voice into engineering design criteria and specifications that meet and exceed those customer needs.

THE "5 SIGMA BARRIER"
In our efforts to continually improve our products and services, we will often be limited by the inherent lack of capability in our current designs for products and processes. We call this the "5 Sigma Barrier," though it often occurs at less than 5 Sigma. This is the barrier where we reach diminishing returns with our current product and process designs: it will cost more to further optimize our existing designs and capabilities than the returns we will achieve. At this point, if further optimization is required, we must take a Reengineering Approach, using the DFSS - DMADV Tool Set.

DFSS COURSE OUTLINE
Participants of the Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) workshop will learn the DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design and Verify) strategy for getting better products and services to market faster and at lower cost.
